LAUNE x Camila Larrain
A born-and-raised New Yorker with a clear point of view, Camila Larrain approaches content with ease and instinct. Her perspective is shaped by a lifelong interest in fashion and pop culture, as well as a deep connection to her mom’s experience in the industry, often revisiting and sharing moments from her mom’s career in a way that feels both personal and nostalgic. Rooted in authenticity and a strong sense of personal style, her voice feels both classic and distinctly New York. Below, she shares more on her influences, creative process, and what’s next.
1. Tell me about yourself.
I’m 24, a born-and-raised New Yorker, and currently a Senior Marketing Associate at the Financial Times. I’ve been obsessed with pop culture, fashion, and food for as long as I can remember. I’ve actually been video editing since I was a kid—making endless iMovie skits and music videos with my friends—so my TikTok is really just the grown-up version of that. It’s been so cathartic to start this account and just let go of the overthinking.
2. What is your LAUNE (mood)?
My current mood is "deeply creative." It can be hard to let your personal creativity shine in a structured 9-to-5, even when you work in marketing. There are so many rules and brand guidelines to follow in the corporate world, so TikTok and Substack have become my necessary outlets. I find that when a video feels like a chore, the audience can sense it—the best content always feels easy and fun to make.
3. What inspires you?
I’m inspired by people who have a clear, unapologetic point of view. Whether it’s a designer like Ralph Lauren who has built an entire world around an aesthetic, or my mom, who taught me how to trust my own gut. I’m drawn to anything that feels authentic, intentional, and just a little bit 'classic New York.’
4. You’ve shared so much about your mom’s world—how did your upbringing shape your relationship to fashion? How does she inspire you?
It made me completely obsessed. Growing up with shows like Hannah Montana, Gossip Girl, True Jackson VP, and the Barbie movies, I always dreamed of being in that world, especially living in the city. Since my mom was a magazine editor, she’d take me to shows and let me follow her to meetings. I spent my childhood ogling the fashion and makeup closets and watching celebrities walk through the office; it felt like a total dream world.
She inspires me because she has such a solid head on her shoulders. She taught me how to be confident and how to advocate for myself in my career and personal life. She gives the best advice—even my friends come to me asking for "the Karen perspective" on their issues. I run every single decision past her (almost to a fault).
5. What are three staple items that every closet should have and why?
A pair of perfectly lived-in, flattering jeans; a fitted cashmere cardigan; and a chic, "easy" shoe like a Belgian loafer or a ballet flat. I’m a firm believer that accessories are the key to an outfit—they make even the most basic look feel intentional.
6. What drives your creative process and content?
I try to keep things as natural as possible. I think it’s obvious to the viewer when you’re going out of your way to "perform" for a video. I just capture what I would be genuinely interested in watching or learning about myself.
7. What do you love about New York?
Honestly, I love the chaos. I’m the type of person who can fall asleep to sirens and shouting. When I’m in a quiet town, the silence feels eerie. I love being able to escape to visit friends, but there is a weird comfort in knowing I’m returning to the bustle. Even when I’m not doing anything, the energy of the city makes me feel like I’m never truly alone.
8. Which New York neighborhood has the best style?
Probably the Upper East Side. It’s the most "classically" New York and always feels the most timeless.
9. What’s next for you?
I want to continue evolving my community on TikTok, hopefully work with some brands that I love, and eventually create my own product—something that people really believe in and find value in.

4. If you could only wear one designer for the rest of your life, who would it be?
