LAUNE x Celia Mattie

Raised in upstate New York and now based in New York City, Celia Mattie, the founder of The Liberty Look approaches style as a form of storytelling. What began as a city-focused platform has evolved into a space where fashion, movement, and everyday moments intersect.

Now living in the city she long dreamed of calling home, she creates content shaped by ambition, street style, and the rhythm of urban life. Below, Celia shares more about her journey, her inspiration, and what’s next.

1. Tell me about yourself.

I grew up in upstate New York where winters meant snow and skiing and summers revolved around tennis and lake days. Being an only child taught me how to entertain myself early, which is probably where my creativity comes from. I’ve always gravitated toward art, music, and fashion, style felt like my first language. It was a way to show my personality without having to explain it. I moved to Philadelphia for college at Saint Joseph’s University and stayed after graduating, that's when I started The Liberty Look. This past August, I moved to New York City, which I’d dreamed about for years. My mom passed away when I was in high school, and she always talked about the fashion, the food, and the energy. It was everything to her and definitely something we bonded over. I grew up visiting a lot, so living here now feels so surreal.

2. What is your LAUNE (mood)?

My mood right now is energetic, optimistic, and creatively restless. I feel most like myself when I’m moving, discovering, and dressing for the day as if it’s an occasion. I try to do something new every day, even if it’s as small as a different hairstyle or a new coffee spot. Those small shifts can quietly reframe everything, even the heavier days.

3. Tell me about The Liberty Look.

The Liberty Look is a love letter to cities and self-expression. It started in Philly as a way to highlight restaurants, hidden gems, and a blueprint for others to discover the city for themselves. The name represents where I was and where I always wanted to be, the Liberty Bell and the Statue of Liberty. It’s evolved into a space where I mix fashion, city life, and experiences. My goal is to inspire people to romanticize their lives and ultimately view their city as their own little playground. Choose fun, all the time. :)

4. What inspires you?

I’m inspired by fashion trends, street style, late-night dinners with my boyfriend and friends, and the rhythm of city life. To me, fashion is wearable storytelling. What you wear becomes a visual mood board shaped by travel, music, and cities that are constantly reinventing themselves. That movement fuels my creativity. Even something as simple as walking through different neighborhoods inspires me. I’ll notice the energy of each person, pulling the trends I love, and blending them into a style that feels entirely my own.

5. What drives your creative process and content?

I create content the way I collect memories. I want it to feel like a highlight reel of a life fully lived. I’m driven by the idea that everyday moments deserve cinematic treatment. Whether that be getting dressed, trying a new restaurant, or walking through a neighborhood. If it makes me feel something, it becomes content. I document my life because memories shift as new ones are made, and we’re lucky to live in a time where capturing them is second nature.

6. What do you love about New York?

I love how fast paced it is, the ambition, the fashion, New York is like a runway disguised as a city. Everyone is expressing themselves and chasing something, and that energy is contagious. It pushes me creatively every day.

7. What are you looking forward to in 2026?

Growing The Liberty Look into something experiential, collaborations, brand partnerships, and projects that live beyond the screen. I’m excited to keep building a creative life in New York and seeing how far this platform can go.

8. What’s next for you?

More storytelling, more style evolution, and expanding The Liberty Look into a recognizable brand. I want to keep merging fashion, cities, and culture into content that makes people want to try new things and romanticize their own life.
