LAUNE x Silver Spoon Label
Silver Spoon Label is a New York–based brand founded by Emily and Hannah, offering a considered take on menswear-inspired dressing designed to fit women. Shaped by their multicultural upbringings across the US and Asia, the brand blends a global perspective with a focus on quality, fit, and understated style. What began as a shared appreciation for clothing and identity has grown into a label rooted in ease, confidence, and intention. At its core, Silver Spoon Label is about creating pieces that feel effortless, wearable, and distinctly personal. Below, Emily the co-founder, shares more on the story behind the brand and what's next.
1. Tell me about yourselves and Silver Spoon Label. How was it created and what inspired the name?
Silver Spoon Label was founded by me, Emily, and my co-founder Hannah. We were both born in the US but predominantly grew up in Asia -- Hannah in Shanghai, and me in Hong Kong and Beijing. We both had a multicultural upbringing that's had a lasting influence on our taste and perspective.
We actually met when we were 14 & 15 at a Brown University summer camp in the same entrepreneurship class. It feels serendipitous that we now run a business together.
The two of us always shared a strong interest in clothing and branding. We loved brands that created a distinct identity and feeling, and we wanted to build something for ourselves. Both of us grew up with brothers and have always loved menswear and unisex styles. Sometimes this came out of necessity for myself as I'm 6 feet tall. When creating Silver Spoon Label, we were inspired by the world of high-quality menswear brands with simple pieces where the emphasis fell purely on the fit and fabric-- something we felt was missing in womenswear. So, this focus on perfecting fit and fabric for women ultimately laid the foundation for Silver Spoon Label. Naturally, in the future we'd love to expand into menswear too and create more unisex styles.
With our name Silver Spoon Label, we wanted to revisit the connotations behind “silver spoon” as a symbol and anchor the meaning back to products that are created to be passed on through generations. The emphasis here is really on quality and timelessness. Our name is also intentionally vague, leaving the doors open for us to explore creating products outside of clothes.
2. What is the LAUNE (mood) of Silver Spoon Label?
Silver Spoon Label’s LAUNE is GOOD. Wearing it should make you feel good, confident, and at ease.
3. What inspires you?
The people in my life inspire me - my family and friends. It is inspiring to see the people in my life achieve, no matter how small or big. People who are bold and fearless inspire me to be more unabashed in going after what I want in life. People who have wildly different experiences from me inspire me stay open-minded and see beyond my own perspective. Inspirational text post tiktoks with good music and TikTok tarot card readers inspire me; they make me feel like I’m on the right path. Everyday people on the street in NYC inspire me when it comes to style.
4. Walk me through your perfect day in New York.
A perfect day in New York is a late spring or early summer Saturday. The sun is shining, the weather is warm, but not yet too hot or humid, and people are in high spirits. I wake up early, feeling well-rested, my skin looks smooth, my face isn’t puffy, and I feel amazing. I go workout, use the steam room, shower, and put on an outfit I feel really good in. I go to brunch with friends, sit outside and bask in the sun - the type of brunch where the sunlight hits your face and you think, “life is so awesome right now and I feel so grateful”. We walk around outside, maybe go to Central Park, lounge, engage in rambunctious conversation, and I read a page-turner, fully-engross you type of book. Later, I head home and get ready for another outdoor dinner somewhere with great vibes, yummy drinks, perfect people-watching, and a colorful sunset. After dinner, we go out!!!!
5. What do you love about New York?
I love the individuality, honesty, and ambitiousness of the city and its people.
6. Which New York neighborhood has the best style?
I think it depends on the vibe! I’ve only lived here for three years so take this with a grain of salt, but I like seeing how the younger crowd dresses in the Lower East Side and how the older crowd styles themselves in Gramercy. Admittedly, I spend most of my time in Manhattan, so don’t quote me on anything I say here…
7. What’s next for you both and Silver Spoon Label?
We are currently working on our next collection, set to be released later this year. Think warmer layers for the fall and winter! We just launched Silver Spoon Label in December 2025, so we're focused on growing and establishing the brand in an organic way. We are also working to enter some select retailers and boutiques in the city with the launch of our second collection.
